Hello all,a blog after a long time.Am happy to blog on mozilla meet up,a meet up that was planned and organised on 28th of this month.Though the meet up was scheduled during noon,none of us felt drowsy,after all in winter noon's a discussion on community build up won't make you feel drowsy or lazy when you are surrounded by awesome contributors around you :)
The main goal behind this meet up is to strengthen the "Mozilla Community Warangal(MCW)" and making an action plan for the year 2014.Around 10 wonderful people gathered at "Bits n Bytes" institute which we chose as our venue.When i was heading towards the venue,on my way i met one of my senior who asked me regarding mozilla community and she wants her sister to be part of it.She wanted me to suggest a procedure to get into it.I explained her the things and moved on.So, this point kept moving in my brain and we in the meeting thought of initially listing all those problems that are being faced by students to reach the community and make their contributions. One among us started writing all those problems on the white board when all of us started telling our views. The other started making a note of all the opinions and solutions that came in and we put all these,into the electronic note book ;) :).
We started our meeting with the point of "How to get started into mozilla?" where we finally found wonderful solutions.Later on we discussed on the benefits for the students,outreach programs,events that should be conducted on the whole for 2014,WoMoz community build up,Involving Firefox Student Ambassadors(FSA's) from warangal and making this FSA program much more flexible.
To maintain clarity for the new contributors who ever comes into the community,we divided the areas of interest and handed them to the experienced members of the community so that they can guide new people and it even becomes easy for the students to get into contact with these members.We made a teams for localization,for add-on development,for reporting bugs,for marketing,for designing,for publicity,for outreach program,for event managing,for app development and much more.
We palnned for 4 big events in 2014,which includes a big outreach program for all the colleges in warangal though we planned to conduct outreach program in every college in every month(min 2 colleges).Next we palnned for another big event,a WoMoz event which includes app development and guest lectures and then App-days and a training event for all the FSA's.We palnned during which months we need to organize these and we also have dates fixed in the dairy.
The only aim is to sustain the present contributors and making new memebers a part of the community and bringing awareness among people about open source,open web and mozilla products.We were able to find solutions for the problems being faced and we had few "Cool" ideas like have a community mailing list and stuff like that.For me,this meet up is the most fruitful and wonderful one.We got to meet few new members who joined us,who are really passionate about "Openness."A meeting which lasted for 4hours didn't seem to be so long at all,that might me because of our seriousness towards this meet up :).
Finally a fruitful and feel good meeting which brought back confidence in the community.Hope this new year,all the things planned will be executed perfectly and here we go,MCW gonna rock in 2014 with lots of surprises out there.So,time for celebration,Happy New Year all!!!!
